Finally got a new laptop! I got it yesterday actually. Whether or not I'm going to continue updating this blog is in question ... my new version of Word allows me to encrypt my files so I may as well keep my diary there instead of depending on no one finding this blog. Heh.
I've had to change a lot of passwords since yesterday - both mum and Grace knew my old one so I've changed it again. I'm in the process of changing everything at the moment. New laptop new passwords I suppose!

My laptop screen broke about a week ago - the liquid crystals have, for some reason, burst - and I haven't been able to see anything on the monitor except a little bit in the middle and a strip down the left hand side (and only if I press certain parts of the screen in a specific way!).
At the moment I've got the monitor from the front room hooked up to my laptop as it's the fastest computer in the house!

6th December, 2008 - Something for people suffering Pre-Christmas Stress ...
|
A Christmas Story for people having a bad day: When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.
Then Mrs Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.
When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.
Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.
Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the cider and hidden the liquor. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.
Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'
And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

29th November, 2008 - Friday and Saturday
|
Well, on Friday Christmas came early (sort of). Pretty much had a lazy day: got up at 1pm, had a take-out sandwich and Sprite, settled myself on the free bus with Natalie and Chris, got to Kingsway and sat in the canteen and had a chat. At about 3:15 Anja came over telling us there was a sign on the door of the theatre saying that the lecture was cancelled - YES!! We went up and checked and it was true! Wandered back with Natalie and Chris and nearly got run over at the final crossing to the Uni; there are so many pointless pelican crossings on the way from Kingsway - the only place they actually really need one is in front of the Exton Park entrance where there's a chance of actually dying.
At about 11pm Manny, SuperLaura and I were settling down to watch Jonathan Creek "The Chequered Box" when my Mum rang saying she was going to pick me up and that I should skip Monday's classes and go back after the gig that night. Dad's going to take me and my washing back to Chester so the plan works out fine.
So here I am at home, having Britney Spears on the X Factor force fed down my sense of taste-o-meter. I hate that show. I prefer Strictly, and I want Tom to win! My favourite professional dancer is Anton Du Bec, but he never gets very far in the competition because they always give him rubbish celebrities to dance with. ¬_¬
Grace's hamster Sir Snore-a-lot is ill and has to have injections. It even says "Sir Snore-a-lot" on the medication label, and the vets refer to him as "His Lordship".
Anyhoo, that's basically it for today and yesterday. Al Murray on HIGNFY was hilarious and NMTBC was brilliant (the 189'th episode, I'll have ye know!). Emma nicked my black and white Paris necklace and I pretty much had to give it to her ¬_¬. Grace seemed to like her keyring from Paris and Emma loved her mirror, but I don't think Sadie was too impressed with her Parisian piggy bank; nevermind, I'll convince myself that it's the thought that counts.

Finally got to practice my drama piece today - albeit with mime people instead of real people. I'm still not entirely sure whether or not I actually like Dani's concept for the assessment, but it's a tutor-led piece so we don't really get that much of a say in the overall initiative. I think I like Dani now. I just don't like her views on drama and performance. Apparently, she hates Stanislavski's theories and ideals so we probably won't be doing anything remotely Stanislavskian. ¬_¬
I'm missing my college and old friends a lot at the moment. I've definitely clicked with some people here, but I just miss knowing someone well enough to call them a best friend or talk to them about proper problems and stuff. I'm booked in for counselling on Wednesday so maybe I'll start to feel better soon.
I'm totally broke at the moment. I have £2.50 in the whole world. It'll buy me some big bottles of Tesco coke though, and drinks are all I think I'll need to make it through the next few days until my bursary comes through. I haven't had the letter about my bursary yet; I'm starting to think it might never arrive! Lorna's was sent to her home address, but when I asked my mum if I had any post I only had something about donating blood and another letter that doesn't really seem important at the moment as I can't remember what it was.
I told Grace about the people from Doctor Who at Chester SU Comedy Night. She seemed rather excited! Much more excited than Mum did, I have to say. I am missing Grace. A teeny tiny little bit. Deep deep down. No, even deeper than that ...
I had a killer headache today - it was bordering on a migrane. I've still got a bit of a dull ache there now but it's fading slowly. The last thing I needed at the peak of it was the bloody catering staff at Chester Main Dining! It said on the board that they had Gammon, so I queued up for ages to get some, but when we finally got to the front of the queue the woman said they'd run out of gammon a while ago and no one had changed the board! I was so annoyed! They offered me Funky Cheesy Pasta-Thing and Lamb Curry but I don't like either of them, so they said that there were jacket potatotes at the end of the line. So I gets to the end of the line - and lo and behol! no jacket potatoes. I had to wait five mintues for them to bring out "an alternative potato-based product" which turned out to be some kind of deep fried mash in a ball form. So that's all I've had for dinner tonight: deep fried, flavourless mash. And a bit of lettuce. I think.
Oo! I had an ephiphany today: I may actually have to buy an iBook. (A Mac laptop, basically) because all the tablets that are PC compatible are majorly expensive, whereas Mac ones are relatively cheap - about £50. Given my abilities seem to be weighed towards digital artistry, I think that the best move forward would be for me to invest in the appropriate technology. I do love PC though. We have Macs at Kingsway and they confuse me because of their speedy set-up, large memory and general instantanious click=reaction malarky. The keyboard is slightly different, too. The "escape" button is really small and the "@" symbol is on the "2" key instead of the apostrophe - and there's symbols instead of "num lock" and "ctrl" that you have to figure out and hope for the best and stuff. I know that ideally, for my kind of work, Macs will be better - but I don't think I could ever admit that to a Mac-lover. Haha. "Mac-Lover" sounds like a McDonald's brand condom!
Anyways!
Toodles!!
